red blue and steel - still life in water color
riot pyre - water color
Yet another copy of a spendid photo in the Frontline.
They do have some amazing photos...
This one was taken during the infamous bombay riots.
The colors of fire with rising smoke was a beautifully composed picture and all i had to do was follow the lead blindly!
A good experiment for me in capturing fire and its different hues!
Mick Jagger - A portrait in pencil Sketch
Rolling stones came to perform in Bangalore and this photo which i have attempted to recreate in pencil sketch was published in the local newspaper.
I love doing portraits esp. in pencil and this was a little complicated with the contortions of the face. But nevertheless very challenging.
Some close ups of faces send my sketching nerves into motion and then i am engulfed by this deluge of force to sit down and sketch... and my fingers are just trying to float in the energy that emanates from some mysterious depths.
The consummation of that energy is exhilerating!
saffron musings - a portrait in water color
From the pages of politics....
This is an imitation of a snap of Uma Bharathi on the covers of frontline and ever since i saw it i knew i had to paint it.
the vibrant colors, the expression on the face, the play of light on the face...
I Normally make sketches but the colors of this one was too enticing for a water color. In fact this is the theme which inspired me to take up painting more seriously.
